Becoming traveling pet sitters was an easy choice as we both LOVE animals, exploring and being outside. We both are online educators so we have the freedom to teach where we please (as long as there is great wifi!) and that has taken us up and down the West Coast.
We started off in Arizona and cared for a couple of sweet cats (Sophie and Finn) and then two dogs (Mojo and Luna) whose eyes would melt your heart. The summer sun was strong and we were happy to get passes to Six Flags: Hurricane Harbor (a waterpark) to cool off.
Saying farewell to Arizona, we headed North to Portland, Oregon where we cared for a young long-haired orange kitty named Oscar. Getting back to Oregon, our home state, was a treat. Exploring trails and finding different bodies of water to jump in was our favorite pastime.
Later we made our way South to Ashland, Oregon where we cared for Moki the dog and Sophie the cat (2nd cat named Sophie!), along with a bunch of heckling hens (lots of omelets and quiche!) Egg Count = 74 eggs. We always bring our bikes with us on our travels and Ashland was my favorite place to explore on two wheels.
FUN FACT! Erik is into cycling. Like, Pacific to Atlantic on a bike trip with his mom.
Next we headed back to Portland where we cared for one of our favorite calicoes, Hazel Biscuit in S.E. Portland. Erik played LOTS of soccer and I explored Mount Tabor. Oregon is one of the best places to be for the summer, in our biased opinion.
With summer coming to a close and fall coming in fast, Erik and I made our way back to Arizona to start house sitting in Scottsdale with a pup named Belle who has become very near and dear to us as we now care for her often.
With fall arriving, we knew we wanted to be in the snow. So, we made our way North to Utah where we cared for the sweetest pup in all of Salt Lake City, Bobby the Dog. Watching the leaves change and even getting some snow in October was welcome after being in the heat for so long.
Next we went to Ogden, Utah to care for a posse of pets. Two standard Poodles (Jack and Cooper) and two cats (Sophie, our 3rd for the year! and Morris). What snuggle bunnies, all of them! The poodles are wonderful off leash dogs so we went on many hikes in the mountains.
To finish out the year we went back to Arizona to sit for Lady Belle and then back to Utah to sit for Bobby the Dog again. It is always a treat for us to become regulars with pets and their families. The pets remember us and are excited because they know we are going to have a great time together.
Below is a picture of all the pets (minus the cat Finn who was a little reclusive) with which we had the pleasure of spending 2021!
